Jesus Paid for It All

Here is your Sunday reminder that Jesus paid for it all. All. Of. It. He will meet you wherever you are. Even in the laundry room. Oh how He has met me there at different times in different seasons. It’s in serving Him from the BIG to even in these seemingly small and mundane tasks that we become more like Him. He came to serve. He was fully God but fully human. I’m sure there had to have been days where He just didn’t feel like it. He agonized about going to the cross and asked if there was another way. Even when there wasn’t, He said “thy will be done.”

Let’s get real. We all have our own expectations of what order things should be in and how it all should go. When you walk with Him it’s a daily thing to “die to yourself.” That’s strong language! He has been finding ways in this heavy season we have been in to remind me of how He paid for it all. He took care of every detail. He was thinking of all of it as he hung there on that rugged cross. Any lie I have struggled with, any selfish or self serving thought or idea or desire or action. He gently says, “Rachel I took care of that. This is why I died on the cross.” It’s so humbling and it lovingly points me back to the pioneer and perfector of my faith. Our faith has been tested and I’m grateful because whenever we get past this…and even if we don’t…our faith will be able to be trusted. He sustains us. He provides for us. We hopefully start to look more like Him. I’ve had more whiny days than I’d like to admit But HEY – He calls us to progress, not perfection. Every day I’m attempting to be in a posture of, “not my will, but Yours, Lord.” He is a loving Father, who wants to give gifts to His children.

As you can imagine I was pretty annoyed when I found this HUGE nail that went through a cycle that my helpmate lovingly threw in the wash to help me! It was a jam packed weekend and there is so much to do to catch up and now maybe ruined clothing in the dryer. But there it was again. A. Nail. “Rachel, I took care of this at the cross. Don’t forget.” Now I know I’ve had many trials and sorrows, frustrations, but I sure as heck have never been so stressed that it caused me to sweat blood…or been NAILED TO A CROSS.

He was beaten, tortured, abandoned. NAILED. TO. A. CROSS. To give us eternity and His Spirit.

And He still finds ways all the time to surprise me with just how in the details He is. May my eyes always be open to that!

We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine.”
